Trade Kettles were in use from the mid 1600’s all the way to the American Civil War. They were commonly traded with Indians, thus their name. Riveted dog-eared tabs secure the iron bail. This Kettle is about 9” in diameter, 4-1/2" tall, and holds about a gallon. Made of solid brass with folded and riveted brass ears and the interior is tin lined. The sides of the kettle are angled and the bottom is slightly rounded.
